WHOOPS! First off let me apologise to you – the beloved Wrestling Rambles viewers, audience, UNIVERSE – for being late in publishing this article.

Onwards and upwards. Or so they say. This week I bring you my top five wrestling theme songs! Last week I brought you number 10-6, which seemed to work a treat but also raised the alarms for many of you at home demanding to see certain songs on the list. Well, wait no further because that long, loooooooooong wait is over and you can see whether those songs you recommended or cheered for made the list. I won’t spoil the surprise so read further! Let’s Go!

5. Chris Benoit – Whatever

This song by Our Lady Peace was a big hit for me because Benoit was my favourite wrestler and to some extent still is one of my favourites. The first few notes of this song was easily recognisable and instantly you knew that the Rabid Wolverine was making his way out to make someone tap. In my case, whenever I first heard the song hit I was marking out hard and again, to some extent, I am whenever I watch DVDs that include Benoit. Benoit was one of my favourites because his technical skill in the ring was amazing, combined with the fact that he was a smaller guy and was always relatively considered an underdog. Some don’t like to talk about Benoit anymore and have since the double murder and suicide refuse to watch his stuff. I, on the other hand, recognise him as one of the best. Since the double murder/suicide Our Lady Peace have retired this song and have removed it from their catalogue refusing to play it at shows because it is instantly recognised as Benoit’s song. The lyrics to this song go along the lines of:

But whatever you need
‘Ever you got
‘Ever you want
I’ll take back again

4. Shawn Michaels – Sexy Boy

This to me is probably the biggest or most famous song amongst wrestling fans. Absolutely EVERYONE knows this song and if giving a microphone could sing it with few blips. At the same time, there probably isn’t a cheesier song than this but that’s probably why some of you like it! It’s a damn catchy tune and one that I sing every time Shawn’s making his way to the ring, even if it is a one of appearance here and there. Plus, if I do say so myself… This song applies pretty well to my own life 😉 I kid! Lyrics are as follows, if you actually don’t know them that is!

I think I’m cute.
I know I’m sexy.
I’ve got the looks,
That drive the girls wild
I’ve got the moves, that really move ’em.
I send chills up.
Up and down their spines.

3. Eddie Guerrero – Lie, Cheat, Steal

In the day this was just a fantastic song that was probably 300% perfect for Eddie Guerrero! In fact, I think this song was actually made especially for Eddie because it includes most of his trademarks. The chorus actually goes like:

Hey, I’m tougher than tough calling your bluff cause
I lie I cheat I steal
I lie I cheat I steal
I don’t care if you don’t like me, Everybody wants to fight me
Can You feel It?

Which makes me think that the song was purposely written for Eddie. This song included all the Mexican attitude that stemmed from Eddie’s character on screen and as I said above was perfect for Eddie. Anyone listening to this song will or should know straight away that it was Eddie’s song. Simply because there are words in there like Mamacita, Ese, Latino Heat and Eddie’s most famous line: VIVA LA RAZA! The last line of the song is extremely cool to: If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying! Which we all know Eddie practically lived by in the ring! A true legend and a great song.

2. Chris Jericho – Break the Walls Down

Another song that was known by everyone but probably only because of the starting 5 seconds. The countdown. Jericho’s countdown. 5 seconds came, and 5 seconds went, pyro would hit and Jericho would be shown with his back to us, arms stretched out and ready to swing round. Jericho is a master of making us wait, fooling us and just about every damn trick in the book and for the few seconds that the arena was black, the tensions rises higher and higher and boom Jericho emerges.  The song lyrics are as follows:

For those about to rock and what ya want
Baby you know you’re Judas and I’m your priest
Baby what I got is not from the least
Bring it through the stage in the rage of a beast

Step in the arena and break the wall down
Step in the arena and break the wall down

1.  Edge – Metalingus

This is probably as common as shit to everyone and for that I do NOT apologise! This song is the number one greatest song in WWE. For anyone out there who has, or who have had dreams will understand the greatness of this song. This song talks about your dream coming to life, about striving for perfection and leave the old shit behind. This song matches Edge better than what most probably think. Edge had rough injuries (one that made him retire), near life-threatening incidents and at one point in his career was barely getting by; this song is all about that. As I said, the song talks about leaving “A bitter place and a broken dream, and we’ll leave it all behind” Thankfully for us, Edge would scrape by and make it to the WWE were he would give us many, many amazing matches. The lyrics are as follows:

I’ve been defeated and brought down
Dropped to my knees when hope ran out
The time has come to change my ways

On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we’ll leave it all, leave it all behind

That’s all for the second part of my favourite theme songs, again, please comment below, let me know your thoughts and shocked reactions of certain songs that didn’t make the list. However, there is an honourable mentions list before you start running your mouth 😛
