On Friday Abe Washington took to Twitter and tweeted the following…
AWPromotions is no more ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for your support and hate, it’s been a great run. Now I get to do me which isn’t PG! @TitusONeilWWE & @DarrenYoungWWE thank you for allowing me to speak on your behalf. You guys are the best and I’m glad to call u my friends! I’ve offended the wrong people that taught me how to have ATTITUDE It was the #WWE that made me bold and now it has turned it’s back on me. Let this be a lesson to up and coming talent in the WWE don’t try and be great like the Rock or Stone Cold. WWE isn’t the same… Just be normal shut up and be a yes man so you can collect your check and feel like your special. #SELLOUTS!! I remember a time when the WWE didn’t care about breaking the mold but now everyone is so afraid of their own shadow.#RemeberTheFans. Thanks to the fans who showed me support over the whole Kobe thing and to those I upset I apologize again. Remember It’s entertainment folks. I really do hope Linda wins that election because If not then all of this BS has been for nothing. #GoLinda!!
Ray’s Opinion
There’s been no ‘official’ announcement on this as WWE have yet to publicly announce it but it’s crystal clear he has been released after reading his tweets. If it was a work there is absolutely no way in hell Linda’s campaign would be brought into the equation. His tweets suggested he had a lot to say with limited characters. From WWE’s perspective I fully understand why they released him but I think it’s absolute bullshit. I know rape jokes are bad but come on! I just wanna know, where does this leave the Prime Time Playa’s? Wrestling fans – give me your thoughts!

I really only have one word for this…
Bullshit.

Agreed. I watched 7 hours of wrestling this week, it really drained me out. Then this happens. We finally get a new interesting personality on Raw then this happens.

I’m not a fan of AW, by any means, I don’t find him all that entertaining, but the fact that he got fired for that Kobe joke (Which you couldn’t really tell he made until they pointed it out) but Jerry Lawler makes racist jokes about Sakomoto, makes fat and ugly jokes about Vickie Guerrero and he still has a job? Give me a break.

Yep that’s 100% true, good point. WWE really make it hard to be a fan sometimes!

He makes a good point about WWE being different. Back then, you were encouraged to speak freely and it was entertaining. Now you make one rape joke, offend the wrong people, and they want your head on a silver platter.

Yeah it’s so frustrating. Like the man was just doing his job. I guess Linda’s campaign has too much of an affect on WWE and what they put out on TV. I hope the election comes sooner so she’ll just lose and give up on politics.

I wasn’t a fan of the guy or their limited attempts to breathe life into a dead division. For me, the ironic thing was that I didn’t even get the freaking joke at time of broadcast!
By all means reprimand him, but having the guy lose his job over this is a bit severe. By a bit a I mean massively.

I didn’t either, the first I heard of it was when Cole apologized so I rewound it back as it was recorded. Yeah a punishment would of been acceptable but this is not fair IMO.

So much for Vince’s famous “There’s no such thing as bad publicity,” mantra. Of course, I’m pretty sure that went out the window and into a completely different alternative universe in ’07.
Still, though, like many have stated, the fact that Jerry Lawler can make numerous sexual/fat/gay/racist/etc jokes each week, under the banner of “voice of the show,” along with others, is BS.

It’s only now that I realise how big of an impact Linda’s campaign has on WWE. It’s fucking bullshit. Once Linda loses the better, she’ll hardly go for a third time, will she?c

To me, “rape” just isn’t funny. If he were a face, I’d be turned off, but him being a heel, I would expect it from the bad guys.
There’s also this: I never saw the joke as being about rape, but the justice system in Colorado. I thought he was saying even the justice system in the state was no match for Kobe.
I realize that WWE is going for a different audience and they should in order to grow it, but a warning would’ve gotten the job done.
I do hope he gets chants and WWE figures they let someone of worth go, perhaps bringing him back.

I didn’t find it funny. Luckily I don’t know anyone who has been raped, at least not to my knowledge anyway. But I know it should not be joked about. But as the others are saying, Lawler says all kind of racist/sexual/fat/gay etc.. jokes every week on Raw. It just doesn’t make sense IMO. And why is it two-weeks later he got terminated? I just don’t get it.
WWE’s problem is they’re a monopoly, they control the whole wrestling business. I know it may not be relevant to Abe’s sacking but in a way, it is.

It’s not that WWE has a monopoly. It’s that they are big business. People are expendable.
