Tyler Reks was not a big part of the WWE family, but he was a big part of another family. Reks announced via twitter that he had asked and was granted his release from WWE.
“I just want to say thank you to WWE, Inc. for allowing me to be part of an incredible entertainment experience. On Monday, I asked for my release and the company was gracious enough to grant my request.
I realized recently that being a Superstar means sacrificing certain things, including time with my family. As a new father, my heart broke every time I had to leave to go on the road. I didn’t ever want to miss another moment with my daughter, so I made the decision to be a full time dad and hang up my boots.
I will miss everyone in the locker room tremendously as they have all become a second family to me. I want to thank my coaches and teachers that really helped me along the way: Fit Finlay, Arn Anderson, Edge, Christian, Kane, Jericho, Dr. Tom, Norman Smiley, and Billy Kidman.
I also want to thank my boys. You know who you are. Especially though, a huge thank you to Hawkins. You were like a brother to me the last year and I’ll miss you and will always love you bro. I wish you the best and thanks for understanding that I had to go be a dad. When she’s older, and able to realize what happened, I know Mia will thank you as well.
Thanks to all the dedicated fans of #ReksAndHawkins and to The #RekkingCrew. I would never have survived without you.”
Seth’s Opinion
I have so much respect for Tyler Reks for doing this. I cannot imagine working and traveling the number of days WWE superstars do and not have time for one’s family. Family comes first and Reks has shown this. He did also mention that he owns an Internet marketing company at http://www.localm2.com. In terms of how this affects others in WWE, I am hoping to see Curt Hawkins teaming up again with his old pal Zack Ryder. I think they would once again make a great tag team. Although Reks and Hawkins seem to have a lot of fans and were not disliked by WWE management, I wasn’t such a fan of them as a tag team. With Triple H trying to get the tag team division to be relevant again, here is a tag team that used to be that should be again.
What do you think? Do you respect Reks for his decision? How does this affect Hawkins and others in WWE?

Glad that Reks is able to do this. More and more people don’t have this option due to their job.

Yeah I totally respect Reks for doing this too. I thought he could always do more in WWE but I guess he did what every man should do; put their family first.

I predicted last month that Tyler Reks would be gone either this year or next year so this doesn’t surprise me. What does surprise me is that he was able to leave on his own terms and didn’t get future endeavored. Technically it was his decision to leave the WWE, but I didn’t think he had much of a future in the WWE despite his recent push with Curt Hawkins. I feel bad for Curt Hawkins. Reminds me of Primo when Carlito left and he didn’t have a partner anymore.

After a while, things did look up for Primo, so there may be hope for Hawkins yet.

WWE didn’t do their ”spring cleaning” this year and I heard the reason was due to Linda’s campaign as she promotes she creates Jobs. Also I think WWE saw if they kept him he’d be unhappy and therefore invaluable so they respected his decision to focus on fatherhood.

Does anyone think there is a potential for a Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins reunion?

I respect Reks a lot for taking this decision, and it shows one side that some fans often forget, being how wrestlers feel affected leaving loved ones. I wish him the best in his future, and hope his company does quite well too.
As for Hawkins, I’d rather see him stay solo for now. I’d kinda like to see a feud with Ryder. I mean, in Zack’s youtube videos, they teased issues between them before, and I thought they were going to play off it like they did with Ziggler. Maybe time to re-ignite it, give them both something to do, rather than sitting backstage watching Raw and touting.

I don’t get it. Become a wrestler knowing full well what road life is like, only to retire when it finally looks like you’re getting somewhat of a push.

I see where you’re coming from, but there are more important things in life than making it in WWE. Glad he has his priorities straight because it takes a real man to walk away from the glitz and glamour of the WWE lifestyle and take care of his family. We could all learn a lesson from him.
