Welcome to A RAW Opinion, WWE Raw is live from Montreal Quebec, Canada, and tonight, for the first time in 15 years, WWE Hall Of Famer, Bret “The Hitman” Hart returns to Montreal since the 1997 “Montreal Screwjob” Last week, CM Punk and Paul Heyman were shown to be working together, what will happen with them tonight?
We go live and Justin Roberts introduces Bret Hart to start the show. Fans go insane. Bret can’t get a word in for a good 4 minutes or so, the fans start an “ole” soccer chant. Bret eventually says that last time he was in a WWE ring in Montreal, was one of the darkest days for him and a lot has happened since then, he thanks the fans for everything when CM Punk interrupts, a ton of boos from the crowd. Punk says that we all know about Brets past because Bret wrote all about it in that huge book he wrote. Both men go back and forth, the crowd is HOT for the whole segment, I loved it.
First match of the night is an “all champions tag team match” R Truth and Kofi Kingston taking on The Miz and Antonio Cesaro. Kofi and Truth get the win, pretty good match. I’m glad Cesaro is getting more TV time.
Earlier today at WWE Headquarters Sheamus is with a lawyer giving a deposition about the Brogue Kick, pretty funny segment ending with Sheamus giving the Brogue Kick to the camera.
Layla, Kaitlyn and Eve are teaming up to take on Beth Phoenix, Natalya and Alicia Fox. Kaitlyn, Layla and Eve get the win after Eve tagged herself in the match and pinned Alicia.
Up next we find out who CM Punks opponent will be, Brodus Clay, Randy Orton and Jerry Lawler were the options. CM Punk will face Randy Orton.
CM Punk VS Randy Orton was a very good match, Dolph Ziggler ran out to attack Orton but Orton got the better of it, Punk then went to attack Orton but Orton took him out, Orton started falling victim to the numbers game until Jerry Lawler got in the ring and started attacking Punk and helping Orton clear the ring.
We come back from commercial and we have a tag team match. Randy Orton and Jerry Lawler VS CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. Orton picks up the win after an RKO to Ziggler, Punk and Heyman were both talking, Punk not even paying attention to the match.
Heath Slater is in the ring talking about Zack Ryder, he wants a rematch right now. Ryder gets on the the big screen and says that Heath won’t be facing him tonight, but knows who Heath will be facing, out comes RyBerg. Thanks for comin Heath.
Darren Young and Titus O’Neil go to AJ’s office, she tells them there is a mistake and that they aren’t the number one contenders for the tag titles, she puts them in a match against Kane and Daniel Bryan.
The tag match between Daniel Bryan and Kane VS Prime Time Players is up next. Kane and Daniel Bryan get the win, Kane choke slammed Daniel on top of Darren after Daniel tagged himself in. Side note: Apparently Jerry Lawler collapsed at ringside during the match, I really hope he’s alright.
Tyson Kidd VS Alberto Del Rio is up next. Del Rio gets the win with the cross arm breaker. I think It’s really shitty that they haven’t given any kind of update on Lawler. Del Rio got on the mic and talked trash to Sheamus after.
After the match Cole says that Lawler collapsed at ringside and is receiving CPR in the back. Thats not a good thing… Sounds VERY bad.
Sheamus comes out next for his match with David Otunga. Silence from the announce table can’t be a good thing and I’m really scared for the worst with Lawler. Sheamus gets the win with a cloverleaf, but wrestling right now seems moot…
Looks like a bit of good news, Michael Cole saying that Jerry Lawler has been taken to a local hospital, he is receiving oxygen and that he is breathing on his own.
Rey Mysterio VS Cody Rhodes is up next. Cody wins, afterward Miz comes out and goes after Mysterio, Cody attacks Miz and picks up the IC Title.
Michael Cole saying that Jerry Lawler is reacting to lights being shined in his eyes and is awaiting a cat scan, still breathing on his own which is good.
Bret Hart comes out and introduces John Cena. CM Punk interrupts and him and Cena go back and forth, not gonna lie, Cena I think got the best of Punk here tonight. Cena even did a little trash talking in French. Bret got a shot in on Punk and sent him to the mat.
Michael Cole with the final update on Lawler, Cole said that Lawlers condition has stabilized and he’s being prepped for his cat scan.
Overall, I really don’t know what to say right now, the entire show seems like back burner material considering what happened with Jerry Lawler. Great to hear that it appears Lawler is going to pull through, but I won’t be happy until I read that Jerry Lawler has in fact pulled through and is at home.
Should be interesting to see how the ratings fare this week with Monday Night Football back with the regular season.

Cole gets a ton of hate, but he’s very good during the serious times like these.

I gained a ton of respect for Cole tonight, he’s looked like he wanted to pack it in since it happened and I’m sure they aren’t forcing him to stay out there.

Gotta be hard for him.

The closing segment was awesome, but my mind (as well as those of all the boys) was on Lawler. I had alot of flashbacks to 1999 when Owen died on PPV and how Lawler was the first person to rush in and try to save him. Now 13 years later, Bret was on the same show where Lawler suffered an almost fatal attack. I know Bret had to be shaken up considering how much he Lawler worked togehter back in the day. And God bless Cole. Looked like he was having a real rough time. Also wonder how JR is holding up since he and Lawler are best friends.

Great show considering what happened. Hope Jerry will be okay. I think Cole deserves a lot of respect and credit for not standing down for the night. I think we saw a glimpse of what Cole out of character is really like. I think Cena deserves JUST as much credit, I was not really into Raw after the collapse but Cena and Punks promo got me back into it. The ending was powerful writing.

Must have been hard for Punk and Ziggler as well with them being his opponents and doing moves on him.

Good show, before Kings medical upset.
As mentioned above, when Cole made the announcement I immiediettly thought back to Owen. Shouldn’t have continued IMO, making an announcement like that and the talent just carrying on, no.
It’s wasnt a PPV, nobody at home would have been offended had they called not to continue and I’m sure wrestlers would have competed for the live crowd in respect of Lawler.

I’m glad to hear Jerry Lawler is doing better today, he had a stint and a balloon put in, his wrestling career is almost certainly finished. As for commentary, it should be interesting to see what happens now, I’m not sure Michael Cole can go back to being a heel after all this.
I will say I gained a ton of respect for the man, he could have packed it in and just left commentary and I don’t think anyone would have blamed him.

Well, this show definitely had my interest.
It was turning out decently until the whole King ordeal, and then it was Kansas City all over again. The level of professionalism we saw last night- unrivaled. I gained so much respect for Michael Cole, and the others who performed during/after the incident.
(I could still make so many jokes about this though, like how he collapsed heading in to the third hour: three hours is just too much for everyone. Or when they said he was responding to lights, “Don’t go towards the light, King!”)
Anyway, I liked Cena’s promo for once, but wasn’t happy about Bret getting the best of the WWE Champion. I was really hoping for a Punk kick to Bret’s head, but that might have been too heavy under the circumstances.
Didn’t like how they pitted the tag champs against the IC/US champions; forces someone to lose going into Night of CHAMPIONS, and didn’t really build a story for anyone involved (maybe Miz/Rhodes).
Too bad the Kidd/Del Rio match wasn’t longer than it was.
Still liking the Bryan/Kane stuff, but didn’t think they should’ve won their first match out, especially one to become the #1 Contenders for Sunday. Hopefully, Harold (Scorpio Sky) will be signed, and Dr. Shelby sticks around awhile.
Also liked the stuff with Punk and Heyman. The simple, “I’m a Heyman guy” explanation was brilliant and kind of makes you think they’ve been planning a story for over a year.

A Punk kick to Bret might’ve caused another stroke. I don’t mind when a legend gets the best of somebody like Punk(could have been Mantaur doing it). Punk probably thinks it’s an honor.

That’s the exact reaction I’d want to get out of people, that it couldve caused another stroke.
Punk is a much safer worker than Goldberg, so I’d be confident in his ability to pull this off without actually jeopardizing Bret’s health.
That could’ve really got his heel persona over well. I mean, it’s in Bret’s home country, he’s a legend, yada yada. Maybe Punk goes for Cena, who ducks, and hits Bret, that way he can later claim “accident” and not be a full-fledged heel quite yet. Either way, would’ve worked for me.

Punk’s fans would’ve still cheered for him. Heel tactics don’t always work anymore.
Thought, if he had gotten Bret with Cena ducking, Punk could’ve tried to blame Cena for it; saying Cena should’ve taken the kick instead of letting Bret take it.
The people at superherohype’s message board would’ve bought it too. They defend everything he’s done and HATED(I mean, they THREW A FIT!) Cena’s promo.
