Beth Phoenix is a former WWE Women’s Champion and Divas Champion. She will always be remembered as one of the great WWE divas of all time. However, there have been many reports regarding her possibly leaving WWE.
According to Wrestlenewz.com,
“According to a report by Raj Giri of WrestlingInc.com, Beth Phoenix will finish up with WWE in October.
Since her time in WWE, Phoenix has captured the Women’s Championship three times, as well as the WWE Diva’s Championship.
Earlier this year, Phoenix was in route to displacing Maryse Ouellet as the longest reigning Divas Champion in history, however lost the belt a week before she could break the record to Nikki Bella on the April 23rd episode of Raw.”
Seth’s Opinion
It is unfortunate news to hear that Beth Phoenix will be leaving, but it makes sense. She took some time off not too long ago for personal reasons. Beth was a top diva in the WWE for a long time, but I think they have enough divas without her. I know the Divas division doesn’t really matter these days, but with Eve as the new champion, perhaps it will matter. The top divas right now in my opinion are Eve, AJ, Vickie Guerrero and Natalya. AJ is the only face in the group and she doesn’t wrestle. Beth Phoenix was a heel for most of her career and I would never want to see her as face. Beth had a great run and can join Trish Stratus and Lita as long time great Divas who is choosing to leave and retire.
What do you think? Is Beth Phoenix making the right decision?

It’s disappointing to see. The natural cynic in me was wondering if she’s retiring or is just wanting out of WWE. Creatively it would probably be in her interests to go to TNA given that that they do actually have some emphasis on their female division with some girls who can actually wrestle and who aren’t just pretty faces.
If she is genuinely leaving and retiring for family reasons (which is more than probable) then it’s a real loss for the WWE and the wrestling world as a whole. Best of luck in her future endeavors as well as sorting out whatever issues she has in her personal life.

From what I have read and understood, it does sound like she is retiring and not just leaving WWE. I have heard for family reasons and I have heard she has been dating Edge and would like to spend more time with him.

I read the same articles. It’s just wishful thinking on my behalf that she’d go to TNA!

Heard about her and Edge as well.

I don’t think it’s disappointing as what Michael thinks because there really isn’t anything more she can do in WWE that will evaluate her to a higher level than what she got to. I think she fits in nicely with Trish and Lita category.

I’d agree that there’s nothing that can elevate her to another, but I meant it’s a massive loss to a division already sorely lacking in talent at the minute.

I can agree with that but the divas just don’t seem to matter in WWE. It doesn’t matter how good Beth is, if WWE aren’t gonna do anything with her I can’t blame her for wanting to leave.

If anything is good about this, it’ll allow another to step up.
I wonder if we will be getting a good-bye kiss between Beth and Santino?

Yeah you’re right on that but it’s still up-to WWE to give chances and opportunities to talent. They certainly have the talent like.

Might be scared of Vince.

Maybe have her last match with Natalya.

I don’t understand why so many people are demanding Natalya vs. Beth Phoenix. It might be a great Divas match, but there are other dream match-ups I would be more interested in seeing.

I think Natalya is the most underrated diva. She is the one chosen to be in many diva matches. During the Kaitlyn-Layla feud she faced both of them. She deserves another run at some point.

Me wanting Natalya vs. Beth is just an opinion. That’s all. Just like you not thinking Beth wasn’t so great. That’s just your opinion.

I never thought Beth Phoenix was that great. The other Divas are so bad that it made her look good. My only regret about Beth Phoenix is that now we will never see Chyna vs. Phoenix even though that match was probably never gonna happen.

It was never going to happen because of Chyna. WWE never wants anything to do with her anymore.

While I do feel a bit gutted (Beth Phoenix is one of my 2 favourite Divas, Natalya being the other one), I can’t really say I’m surprised by this report. The Divas division has gone downhill faster than Abraham Washington’s career, and now seems to be a “blink and you miss it” section of the show. The Divas either aren’t being used, or when they get put on TV, it’s such a short lived feud or title run that is over and moved past. It’s a shame the Divas division is now a bathroom/cigarette break in the show.
Maybe with this, and the other Divas who have left lately will allow us to see some of the FCW divas get a chance on the main roster? Paige and Raquel Diaz have been getting some good reviews from FCW/NXT.
