Welcome to another edition of A RAW Opinion, tonights show will obviously be centered around what happened last week when Raw went off the air, Brock Lesnar is advertised for tonights show. Sadly and unsurprisingly Dwayne is taking the week off, so YOUR WWE Champion will not be there tonight.
We start the show off with CM Punk heading to the ring Punk says that if Paul Heyman says that wasn’t him in the video he believes it, he continues talking until Booker T interrupts him. Booker says Vickie gave him the go ahead to come out there. Booker is giving the fans a chance to vote for who Punk takes on tonight, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton or Chris Jericho. Booker butchered his promo and Punk called him drunk lol.
Ryback VS Antonio Cesaro is the first match of the night. Ryback gets the win in a competitive match, I’m glad they didn’t bury Cesaro here, but I do wish The Shield would have gotten involved as opposed to Cesaro losing clean.
Santonio Marella VS Jack Swagger up next. Thanks for comin, Santino, quick win for Swagger.
Alberto Del Rio VS Cody Rhodes is up next. Del Rio wins. Surprised Cody got as much offense as he did, I was expecting a squash.
Rey Mysterio VS Daniel Bryan up next. Daniel gets the win, after the match, MARK HENRY comes back! Daniel goes after him but gets taken out, Henry goes after Rey and beats him down a bit until Sin Cara comes out and gets destroyed. Henry delivers the Worlds Strongest Slam on Rey and finishes with a rip off of the Vader Bomb.
Sheamus VS Kane up next. Good match, Sheamus won with the Brogue Kick after Daniel Bryan distracted Kane, because Kane didn’t save Bryan from Mark Henry.
MizTV up next with Paul Heyman as his guest. Pretty lackluster segment until Brock Lesnar showed up, Miz shoved him and Lesnar beat his ass while Heyman sold it like crazy.
Randy Orton VS Wade Barrett. I actually fell asleep during this match, Randy Orton won though, no surprise.
CM Punk VS Chris Jericho next. Jericho won the fan voting to be in this match. CM Punk gets the win in a GREAT match. Jericho putting over the younger Punk again.
The next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame, Bruno Sammartino! LONG overdue, glad he said yes to Triple H.
Brad Maddox is in the ring and decides to call out The Shield instead of Cena. Maddox gets destroyed. John Cenas music hits afterward he starts entering from the crowd, Rybacks music hits next, he’s entering through the crowd, Sheamus’s music hits and he comes through the crowd, The Shield try to leave but the whole roster blocks them from leaving. The Shield is able to leave after a little brawl.
Overall, decent show, I would have liked to see more guys used, how are they putting on a 3 hour show and don’t even have Dolph Ziggler on the show?
I give this episode a 2.5/5 for an alright show, Lesnar, Heyman, Punk and Jericho saved this show tonight.

Is that a small “BORING!!!” chant for Punk?

And if Cena had done this, the IWC would be bitching that Brock “buried” Miz.

Because most of the IWC are hypocrites lol.

I missed Raw last night, good to know what happened. Glad Jericho is back.

By the way does anyone know if the new two year contract Lesnar is on is the same as his current contract of so many appearances or is it different?

I would assume It’s the same deal he’s had.

I don’t think CM Punk or anybody mentioned that The Rock and the WWE Championship were not on the show and why Rock was missing. That was a great opportunity to attack The Rock for not being on the show. I couldn’t find a single RAW Punk missed during his 434 day reign and Rock is missing on day 8. I would like to know when was the last time a WWE Champion missed RAW. Has it happened in the last 10 years? And when Rock does come back, he better wrestle more. I don’t think there has ever been a WWE Champion who only wrestles on PPVs.

You’re preaching to the choir. But how do you explain it? “We’re sorry folks, but The Rock was way to busy to show up tonight, despite being the WWE Champion.”
He won’t be wrestling more, I say he has three matches. Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania. Then he’ll show up on Raw the night after Mania and say “Well, I’ll see ya next year.”

I can’t wait to see what he has to say on the night after WrestleMania. “Thanks for letting me carrying the WWE Title so I could promote my movies. It really helped ticket sales. My new movie starts shooting tomorrow so I’ll be back when it’s time to promote that movie.”

I’m glad they didn’t bring it up, they didn’t need to. We had it all last year with Cena constantly going on about how Rock was via satellite, it got boring. Punk can generate heat without such easy tactics.

Punk did walk out last year(kayfabe).

That’s true. The funny thing about that is that Punk was supposed to get time-off and he missed only one week. Rock’s been off for 10 years.
LikeLike
Well Rock hasn’t really been “off”. I did read years ago that Rock always wanted to do what he’s been doing the past couple years, but his old contract wouldn’t allow it. Once it expired, he made sure that he’d be able to come back from time to time.

What old contract with who?
LikeLike
No! Rock’s contract with the studio! He has the leverage now to demand certain time off to be in WWE shows.
LikeLike
When Rocks contract expired in 2002, it was WWE who chose not to renew it. There has been no contract since.

I didn’t even know that. So basically, WWE wanted Rock full time or they wouldn’t sign him. That’s a little unfair, he’s not the only wrestler who wanted to pursue things other than wrestling.

It’s another reason why they want to rename every wrestler now. Cash.

It was a decent show. Punk v Jericho and Mysterio v Bryan were good matches and Miz getting hit on the head by the chair was my highlight of the show.

I’m not sure if I’m liking Miz as a face anymore, it seems like he’s still acting like a heel wanting to be cheered.

Oh, I see it as a guy who’s acts like a heel, but to other heels, thus making him a face.

Brock threw a chair onto Miz while he was on the outside and and it hit him straight in the face.

Thought it was a good show. I voiced my grievances on Twitter, some things were just not needed.
I like the way the Punk, Heyman, Lesnar and SHIELD are branching out into different story lines. Also Y2J and Punk had a great match, Jericho being back mixes up the top tier.
Just hope theres a good payoff with Punk, Heyman, Shield, Maddox, Lesnar…

Also, I will never understand why they have the Elimination Chamber in between the two biggest PPV’s of the year.

Well it’s still revenue they bring in so I guess they’re, ”why not?’ + there is still a long enough build after EC before WM.
