Social media has exploded with its latest trend; Daniel Bryan. He is making headlines on every top major wrestling website on the internet and rightfully so. The guy is red hot at the moment and he is WWE’s most intriguing superstar. Fans want to see Daniel Bryan and they can’t get enough of him. Out of all the characters/gimmicks in the locker room, Daniel Bryan’s character by far is the most over. Fans are buying exactly what he’s selling. His in ring ability is near the top of the pro wrestling world, if not at the very top. It all can be summed up in one sentence: Daniel Bryan is the hottest superstar in WWE right now.
On Raw this past Monday his match with Seth Rollins was the highest rated part of the entire show. The following is from our buddies over at WrestleChat.Net:
The June 10th WWE RAW did a 3.05 rating with 3.99 million viewers, up from the previous week.
In the segment breakdown, the opener with Triple H, Curtis Axel and Vince McMahon did a 3.11 quarter rating. The backstage follow-up plus Kane vs. Dean Ambrose lost 299,000 viewers. The post-match with Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as well as a backstage segment lost 67,000 viewers. Cody Rhodes vs. The Miz gained 116,000 viewers. The Chris Jericho interview plus Dolph Ziggler, AJ Lee and Big E Langston coming out gained 316,000 viewers in the 9pm timeslot for a 3.16 quarter rating.
Jericho vs. Langston lost 185,000 viewers. Sin Cara vs. Antonio Cesaro lost 19,000 viewers. Orton vs. Reigns lost another 100,000 viewers. Rollins vs. Bryan at 10pm gained 223,000 viewers for a 3.20 quarter rating. The Bryan vs. Rollins post-match lost 62,000 viewers.
Big E being revealed as Kaitlyn’s secret admirer and AJ coming out gained 74,000 viewers. R-Truth vs. Damien Sandow lost 362,000 viewers. The overrun with Vince McMahon, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon plus the John Cena and Ryback angle gained 521,000 viewers for a 3.33 overrun rating.
Interesting to say the least but that proves what I said above; he is the hottest superstar in WWE right now.
I posted a tweet out via @WrestlinRambles Twitter account asking fans what they thought of Daniel Bryan and here are a few responses..

@wrestlinrambles he’s what a WWE Champion should be – a top-class, entertaining, WRESTLER. He deserves the title more than anyone else ATM

If you ask me, WWE need to pull the trigger on Daniel Bryan and make him WWE champion. Money in the Bank vs. John Cena, anyone? I want to see that match and I am willing to pay for it. Give him the WWE title, it would look great around his waist. Daniel Bryan – WWE champion: how good does that sound?
Please give me your opinion on Daniel Bryan and if you liked the column, please share it and ‘like’ it via Twitter and Facebook buttons under this column! Thanks for reading.
WR’s own George gave his full opinion over at our buddies website at SLTD Wrstling! http://sltdwrestling.co.uk/smoke-mirrors-d-bryan-is-money-bank-on-it/

Thanks to Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins, I think I already got a good idea what my column next week will be.

I’m going to guess it’s an old match they had a few years back?

My thoughts on Daniel Bryan…I knew he should be the next in line after Cena back in 2010. For awhile now, I’ve considered him the best worker in WWE. He’s their greatest long-term asset.

I have never ever doubted his in ring ability but I wasn’t sure if his character would reach the heights it’s headed to.

I would love to see Bryan with the WWE Title, unfortunately its around the waste of John Cena. Ziggler/Bryan fued i could watch all year round, downfall to that is only one can be champ. Bryan is sooooooooo over its insane, even if he makes a heel turn and goes for Cena’s title the crowd would still love him, because we all know WWE hates face vs face. Bright side is maybe Bryan can teach Cena a thing or two about inside the squared circle.

A heel turn will be a wasted opportunity in my opinion, fans are desperate to cheer for him so why turn? As I said in my column….we really are buying everything he sells. That’s what is making him red head. Face vs. Face every now and then is good IMO.
LikeLike
i totally agree with face vs face, they should have never turned Ryback. Cena and him coulda went the same route as Hogan/Warrior
LikeLike
They probably would’ve been similar like that in comparison. But you’re right….they hate doing face vs. face!
LikeLike
But today’s smarky fanbase would’ve booed both wrestlers like they would’ve booed Hulk and Warrior.

Good point!

I still think that would be a great idea for a column: Imagine how today’s wrestling audience would react to matches in the past.

I’ll give it a go. Will take a lot of research but I’ll try to do it before Payback! It is definitely an interesting idea, writing it well might be hard.

Perhaps it could be a feature at the end of a regular column? That way, it wouldn’t take so long.

I have been a big Daniel Bryan fan for a very long time, loving his work in RoH and such, and completely fell in love with him when he started YES-ing.
I’m very very excited for his future. Even my non wrestling fan friends know what YES! YES! YES! is.

I’ve seen a lot of his ROH matches, he’s a phenomenal talent. Yeah the fact they know of “Yes” chants is amazing. Kind of like the “what” chants.

I want a face vs. face angle for Cena and DB. Cena went a long time without the title, so I’d have him retain against DB, but DB still have the respect of the fans. This could be used to help the character move past gis current insecurities. Also, while I want Cena to win this feud, DB should take the belt off of whoever takes it from Cena.

Do you think Bryan is a little like Kurt Angle before he became a ‘serious’ star?
LikeLike
Yeah, he has that insanity. Kayfabe wise, that could be what causes him to lose to Cena. Once he sees that, he’d be free of this trait and really be dangerous!
LikeLike
Yep, I’d love to see him develop into something like Angle did. A wrestling machine type persona.
LikeLike
Kurt had better size. I could believe him lifting up bigger guys like that. DB could be a combo of Angle’s intense nature with more of a kick-based moviset, like Rey?
LikeLike
Yep he could be! I really hope WWE give him a shot at WWE title against Cena at MITB.
