Hi guys, I’m here with a review of this week’s Smackdown and I’d like to start by thanking my Sky+ box for allowing me to record Smackdown and fast forward through the ads and all the Raw recaps. Matches and segments will be rated out of 5. 1= poor, 2= decent, 3= good, 4= very good and 5= great. It is as simple as that. Ok then, let’s get started.

Match: Sheamus v Damien Sandow in a Dublin Street Fight.

Winner: Sheamus

We kick off this week’s Smackdown with a match between Sheamus and Sandow. Sandow cut a good promo while he made his entrance. I enjoy Sandow’s promo work and do you notice he holds the microphone like a wine glass? This was a good match to open the show. A kendo stick was the main weapon in this match. I’ve always wonder why there would be a kendo stick under a wrestling ring but whatever. Sheamus picks up the win with a brogue kick while Sandow sat on a steel chair.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5.

Segment: Now we get a backstage segment between Kane and Daniel Bryan which are always enjoyable. Bryan says he will be on commentary for Kane’s match against Randy Orton and he will be there to help him in case he needs him. Bryan hugs Kane and then Kane stares Bryan out of the room.

Segment Rating: 3 out of 5.

Segment: Up next is Miz TV and Paul Heyman is the guest. No entrances for either man. I remember this was a segment on Raw a few months ago and Lesnar came out and attacked Miz, it was fantastic. Paul Heyman dodges questions about CM Punk and Brock Lesnar and introduces Curtis Axel. Miz goes on to say that Heyman looks like Jabba the Hutt, lol. A back and forth between Axel and Miz occurs which leads to Miz challenging Axel to an Intercontinental title match on this show but Heyman is quick to decline his challenge. Miz goes to do his catchphrase but is attacked by Axel and the segment ends with Axel on the ramp holding the title aloft. I expect these two to have a match at the Money in the Bank PPV.

Segment Rating: 4 out of 5.

Match: AJ v Natalya.

Winner: Natalya.

Lol, they show a recap of AJ mocking Kaitlyn on Raw before the match. As the match is about to start Kaitlyn comes out dressed as AJ and lists off all the men she was with last year, lol. Kaitlyn also says that AJ dated the timekeeper, the ringside doctor and LILIAN GARICA (the images in my head at this point). The match eventually starts and Natalya beats AJ with a roll up after Kaitlyn skipped around the ring. After the match, Kaitlyn speared  AJ.

As a match: 1 out of 5 but as a segment: 4 out of 5.

Segment: Teddy Long is backstage and Vince McMahon comes along and wants to know who is in the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Back ladder match. Long says that he is thinking about the future and announces that Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro, Fandango, Dean Ambrose, Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow will be in the match. I personally like the choices. Only Swagger has had a World title reign who is in this match. The segment ends with Teddy Long and Vince McMahon trying to say Fandango’s name.

Segment Rating: 2 out of 5.

Match: Kane v Randy Orton.

Winner: Randy Orton.

This was good match between Orton and Kane. Halfway through the match Daniel Bryan got on the announce table and chanted ‘Yes’ to try and motivate Kane but this helped Orton get back into the match. At the end of the match Kane was being counted out by the referee and Bryan helped Kane get back into the ring but that lead to Kane getting RKO’d. After, Daniel Bryan left with a smile. This could lead to Bryan saying Kane was the weak link all along because he could beat Orton and Kane couldn’t.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5.

Match: Ryback v Justin Gabriel

Winner: Ryback.

This was a short match which probably won’t surprise you. Gabriel got some offence in but Ryback hit the shell shock for the win. After the match, Chris Jericho came out and mocked Ryback. He says that Ryback should change his name to Cryback and gets a chant going. Jericho then attacks Ryback and tries to put him in the Walls of Jericho but Ryback gets away.

Match Rating: 1 out of 5.

Match: The Shield v Christian & The Usos.

Winner: Christian & The Usos.

The Shield dominated this match early on by isolating one of The Usos. Christian eventually gets a hot tag and does most of his offence on Dean Ambrose. The Usos take out Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins then takes out The Usos with a beautiful suicide dive. Dean Ambrose then goes for his own suicide dive but turns round and gets speared by Christian who pins Ambrose for a surprising clean win

Match Rating: 3 out of 5.

Segment: Fiesta Del Rio

I am no fan of Del Rio’s so hated this before it started. Ricardo Rodriguez racially abuses the state of South Carolina before he introduces ADR. Del Rio cuts a boring promo about how we’re celebrating how he regained the World Heavyweight title. He also mentions that he is a 4 time World Champion which nearly made me sick. Del Rio says that he is only going to speak Spanish for the rest of the celebration. After cutting the rest of the promo in Spanish, ADR then hits a Piñata that has Dolph Ziggler’s face on it. Ziggler then comes out and attacks ADR and Ricardo. Ziggler then throws Ricardo through a table and ZigZag’s ADR. Ziggler goes to hit ADR with a guitar but he escapes so he hits Ricardo instead (Jeff Jarrett style). Smackdown goes off the air with Ziggler standing tall.

Segment Rating: 2 out of 5.

Overall I thought it was a good Smackdown this week. I suggest you check out Sheamus v Sandow, Kane v Randy Orton, The Shield v Christian & The Usos and Miz TV if you haven’t already.

Well that’s all for now. Please leave your comments below and I will be back next week with another review of Smackdown. You can follow me on twitter @JohnnyWhyte93 and site @WrestlinRambles.
