Hi guys, I’m here with a preview of this weekend’s WWE PPV Money in the Bank. In recent years this has been one of the most consistent PPVs in terms of standard. So, I’m looking forward to the show.
Pre-Show: Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins(c) v The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championship
This could have been on the main show and I was surprised when it was announced that it wouldn’t be. The Shield momentum has slowed in recent weeks. They’ve gone from beating John Cena, Sheamus and Team Hell No etc. to losing to The Usos and Christian in a six man tag. The Usos push has come out of nowhere and this is why I don’t take them as a threat to The Shield.
Prediction: Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship.
AJ(c) v Kaitlyn for the Divas Championship
This is a rematch from Payback where AJ won the Divas title in the best divas match since Trish Stratus v Mickie James at Wrestlemania 22. Surprise surprise there has been build up to a divas match for once. We have seen both divas taunt each other with impressions of the other. I expect AJ to retain since she only won the title at the last PPV and she has been the best diva in the WWE for a year now.
Prediction: AJ to retain the Divas Championship.
Curtis Axel(c) v The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship
This feud has been based on Curtis Axel taking advantage of opportunity and winning the Intercontinental title basically from under the nose of The Miz. There hasn’t been too much interaction between the two. Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman were on Miz TV on Smackdown a few weeks back and Miz has been on commentary for a few Axel matches but that’s about it. Curtis Axel should retain because he only won the title at the last PPV and he needs to have a good run.
Prediction: Curtis Axel to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
Money in the Bank ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship contract
This is the more difficult of the two Money in the Bank matches to predict. The participates are Dean Ambrose, Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Antonio Cesaro, Jack Swagger and Fandango. I can’t pick a definite winner. I hope Fandango doesn’t win. That would be a nightmare. I would like to see Dean Ambrose win it and then we could get Ambrose v Ziggler down the line.
Prediction: Dean Ambrose to win.
Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE Championship contract
This has been dubbed as the ‘All-Stars’ Money in the Bank match. The participates are Randy Orton, Christian, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Kane, Sheamus and the returning Rob Van Dam. Kane participation is in doubt after he was attacked by the Wyatt Family on Raw. There have been rumours that Bray Wyatt could replace him but I don’t think that will happen. I expect CM Punk to be screwed out of the victory by Brock Lesnar or Paul Heyman to help set up Lesnar v Punk at SummerSlam. Daniel Bryan is my pick for this match. He has been on a roll lately after picking up wins over Orton and Sheamus.
Prediction: Daniel Bryan to win.
Chris Jericho v Ryback
WWE have basically destroyed Ryback’s character. They have turned him into a winey heel. He hasn’t won a PPV match in a year but I expect that to change this PPV. With Chris Jericho leaving soon for his Fozzy tour, it’s the perfect opportunity to write him off tv. Just have Ryback destroy him and win the match. I can see Vickie Guerrero becoming Ryback’s mouthpiece after their segment on Raw.
Prediction: Ryback to win.
Alberto Del Rio(c) v Dolph Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Championship
Another rematch from Payback. I expect that we’ll see the split between Ziggler and AJ occur in this match. There split has been teased over the last few weeks. I think ADR will retain the title after botched interference by Big E and AJ and this will lead to Ziggler turning fully face.
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
John Cena(c) v Mark Henry for the WWE Championship
Mark Henry has been on fire lately. His retirement promo a few weeks ago was fantastic and he completely owned Cena on the mic on Raw. But sadly there’s no way he will beat Cena for the title. I expect Cena will go on to face Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam.
Prediction: John Cena to retain the WWE Championship.
Well that’s all for now. I think the Money in the Bank card is pretty good and has the potential to be a good PPV. I will post a review of the PPV sometime next week and I’ll be back with a review of this week’s Smackdown on Saturday. Please leave your comments and predictions below. Great point about Ryback. They have turned him into a whiny heel that’s just uninteresting. MITB has been a consistent PPV over the years…I am looking forward to it this Sunday. I agree on all your predictions aside from the world title match…I have a feeling Ziggler will win it back.
Great preview!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Jericho won. I can picture Vince in a meeting saying ‘well we fucked this guy up so much, lets try and fuck him up somemore’.
I would like to see Ziggler win the belt. ADR is awful and is even worse now that Ricardo has been suspended.

haha probably.
Ricardo is more entertaining on the MIC than ADR is in the ring. Now that he’s gone for a while, I seriously reckon they will take the title of ADR.

I hope you’re right..

Who do you all think will “breakthrough” on a MITB match? Not win, but have a good showing to start a push?

I think Fandango will be that breakthrough star. I think he will surprise us in this match!

When you look at the pop he got on RAW, he might just get that.

As long as Fandango doesn’t win. I think Sandow could be the breakthrough star.

I want a Sandow/Clay team called “Funk-Thesaurus”!

I want a Fandango/Clay tag team so they can dance their way to the ring.

The WHC ladder match is so hard to pick. I don’t think they will have Ambrose win, but I thought the same about Bryan in 2011!

They need to do something for The Shield’s momentum so I think they might give Ambrose the briefcase but its definitely a difficult match to predict.
