I know not everyone is a fan of heels, and I get it. Who really wants to be the Bad Guy? Besides Razor Ramon… However when the heel persona is done well, we all tend to become a little more of a fan of the bad guy. The cool part is they don’t even have to be presented in the same way. So here are my three favorite heels in pro wrestling today.
3. MJF – Maxwell Jacob Freedom (AEW)

MJF is one of those types of heels that you just want to smack the crap out of, but then out of nowhere he has a one-liner or an insult that will make you laugh. You know he is a jerk and will sink to any level to win (AEW Double or Nothing Battle Royal match proved that, even though he still lost). He is two faced, a liar, and as Jim Cornette said, “A smarmy chickens**t.” But then boom, comedy.
MJF is so good on the mic and wrestles just like a smarmy chickenpoop should. He is still young and new to the business which means that he has a very long and awesome career ahead of him, lets hope he gets to be smarmy heel for a while.
2. Minoru Suzuki (NJPW)

If you haven’t seen Suzuki perform then go do it, like today. This is the only guy on my list that might legit stab someone one of these days, and honestly I don’t think anyone would be surprised. He is the no B/S type of heel that has zero problem beating up anyone in the way. In a sense he might just be a maniac.
From the moment his theme song hits you will become captivated with this man. He walks to the ring in simple black ring gear and a towel over his head. At the peak of his intro music the entire crowd will erupt and sing along. He has them in the palm of his hand from that second on. He is methodical and precise in the ring. He will pick his opponent apart and then he will slap around the Young Lions for good measure. No one is safe when he is in the ring, and the man is one of the most feared wrestlers out there. Oh yeah, he is 5′ 10″ and 50 years old. Let that sink in.
1. Jay White (NJPW)

Another young talent in pro wrestling, but one that has already been the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion (currently held by Jon Moxely) and the IWGP Heavyweight Champion (currently held by Kazuchika Okada), and he is only 26 years old. Jay White is exactly what someone would want from a heel that will in time become the babyface.
Jay White brings a style and presence to the ring that is hard to find these days. He is a true heel. He will cheat, be aggressive, smack talk, and boast about being the best. His in ring abilities are something beyond what one would expect for such a young talent, and honestly they are really fun to watch. I would assume we all have the NJPW Dojo to thank for that. Not only is he great in the ring, he can talk. The man can cut a promo with the best of them today and it is captivating. I highly, HIGHLY, suggest going and watching everything you can with him in it. Everything he has done for the last two years, or so, has been main event quality and he is helping put heels back on the map.
So there you have it, my top three favorite heels in pro wrestling today. I know there are some really good ones out there, but there is just something special about these three to me. I would think Kevin Owens and the Miz deserve a honorable mention, because they are both great heels as well. I would say those two would probably help round out my top 5 heels. Who are your favorite heels?
