Welcome to the first, introductory edition of “The Bottom Line” with myself, Michael Brown. “The Bottom Line” is a column where we’ll be reviewing something every week and delivering an opinion on its quality. This first, introductory article of “The Bottom Line” is just to give you guys a flavour of what is going to be coming your way in the following weeks and months ahead along with a bite size introduction to myself. For a proper and full biography, I would direct you towards my staff page on creative!
I’m one of the people the WWE was probably attempting to win back from “The Summer Of Punk.” Since seeing “THAT” promo on youtube, I’ve started watching Raw again and I also started watching TNA just before “Bound For Glory” last year (I have continued to watch, and at the time of writing TNA is my company of choice).
My first exposure to wrestling was when both of the main companies ran hour long shows on terrestrial TV every week in the UK. WCW had a show on Friday nights, and on Sunday Afternoons the WWF ran “Heat” As I grew up however I moved away from wrestling and pretty much stopped paying any attention to it until I was brought back last year.
However, moving away from myself and onto more important matters: the column! The current plan, as mentioned previously, is to review a piece wrestling media every week. I’ve got a few ideas on what I’m looking to cover, but as the column grows and develops I’m going to be looking to take your feedback and mould it to what you guys want.
One thing I’m interested in knowing is if you would like a series of related articles and reviews. For example, a series of reviews featuring things related to the Hart dynasty for instance? Or, in contrast, would you prefer a more scattered approach with no main focus or set theme running through the reviews to keep things disjointed and a little more fresh? I would also be interested to note if you guys would prefer an alternation between reviewing books and DVDs or if you have no opposition to a series of book reviews with the odd game and DVD thrown in. Either way isn’t a problem, but anyone has a preference to what they would like to see please do not hesitate to let me know.
Anyway, please feel free to get in touch, any advice would be hugely appreciated. After all, it’s you guys I’m writing for, and if I’m not giving you guys something you’re interested in reading there’s little point in doing this. Here’s to People Power! (Rest In Peace)
I would also like to personally thank Ray and the guys here at Wrestling Rambles for giving me the opportunity to write for them. I really hope that you will enjoy forthcoming articles.
Now that all the necessary introductions have been made, I would invite you to check back next Thursday for when the column will kick off in earnest. What will be reviewed I hear you ask? You’ll just have to come back and see next week!
Ta Ta For Now!

Having a “bottom line” is nice, but I’d rather aim higher.

Thanks very much guys! Seriously though, if any of you have any ideas for the column whatsoever please do not hesitate to get in touch here or on twitter!

Here’s an idea I’ve had for a column: Punk-ify the music of other stars. Take a well-known song and give it to another wrestler.

The problem with ”bottom line” is there is already a page named that on the top. It will cause confusion and it’ll have to be changed. I know picking a name is hard though. I do like the name by the way, but we cannot have a column series and page named the same.
Therefore, the column name will be changed or I’ll change the name of the page? Been thinking about it and don’t know what to do. The reason I picked ”bottom line” was so I featured stuff that’s been done and is history, MNW. Rumble winners etc..
None the less, welcome to WR. Glad to have you on board and let me know what you think 🙂

Hi Ray,
Yeah I totally see your point with that. I brought it up when I first proposed but I’m happy to have another brainstorm on idea if you wish that to happen. Apologies for the situation that’s arisen!
The concept behind it was that it just seemed a natural fit to have a review column where a “bottom line” so to speak would be given on the whatever was being reviewed on a weekly basis.
Anyway, let me know what you want to do and we’ll get it sorted out 🙂
Oh, and thanks for the welcome!

I guess it never “took” my post. Try these for names.
“Brown-ie Points”
“What Stone Cold Said”
“Top of the Line”
“Bottoms Up”
“Free Porn”
“Just Some Stuff I Wrote”
and
“Capt. Smooth is Awesome”

The ones I suggested for the book column were…
– ”Wrestling Page Turner”
– ”Reading Matters”
– ”Bookaholics (Weekly) Review”
– ”Gorilla Position’
I like Top of the Line. Free porn would get tons of views! lol

I like Gorilla Position best.

What about “Ringside Review” or “Review From Ringside”?

Now THAT is more like it 😀

“Review From Ringside” it is then. Pending your approval?

Ringside Review sounds better IMO but it’s your call. Any is fine with me!

Yeah, alliteration is great. Gives it a snap.

It just looks neater and especially when it comes in your email box instead of a long name.

Got you. Ok, signed, sealed and delivered. Do it! One little thing…could I request the graphic be changed then haha? For obvious reasons!

It’s easy to replace only the name, but do you want anything else changed?

Welcome dude,
When writing columns I just write about what’s on my mind. Think of your column like facebook (if you have one) where it says “Say Something…” in the status bar. What’s on your mind? If it’s something about John Cena splitting up with his wife then write about it.
Personally, I like shorter columns. I think Ray had one a while back where he talked about several things in several paragraphs, for example;
Stone Cold – Paragraph 1
The Rock – Paragraph 2
Y2J – Paragraph 3
I like those because it keeps everything fresh and doesn’t have to be that long.
I don’t know if I’m talking complete bollocks here or whether I’m helping… Either way: Bienvenue!

Thanks for the reply dude :)! I’m generally going to be reviewing a game/book/DVD etc, and an article is going to be a review of a particular item. I was more asking whether you would want a series of reviews on one topic or jump about between different themes and topics if that makes any sort of sense?
