Paul Bearer’s son, Michael Moody has expressed his concern with the angle involving Paul Heyman and CM Punk that aired as part of this Monday’s edition of Raw.
The segment saw Heyman dressed as the late Paul Bearer, while CM Punk emptied the contents of an urn over The Undertaker.
Speaking on Facebook, Michael said WWE did contact the family prior to the show, seeking approval for the angle to go ahead. “The way it was present to us was OK”, said Moody. “Seeing it on screen was a different story. I don’t even know what to say.”
As soon as I heard the ‘Paul Bearer’ voice I wanted to reach for the remote, it was only curiosity that held me back. On a par with the Katie Vick storyline? Possibly.
The Streak, that is it there is your storyline.

IDK if it’s that diabolical but his sons gave the go ahead, he posted it on Facebook clarifying that. How did he think it was going to be presented on TV? But still, it is disgusting.
The streak – of course but it was CM Punk trying to get into Undertaker’s head, playing mind games and stuff.

‘So Taker will cut a promo before the music hits, An imitation of your fathers voice will be heard before Paul Heyman walks out dressed as your deceased Father, CM Punk will then attack Taker and pour the contents of the Urn over him which some may interpret as your Fathers ashes…’
I’m not sure how else it would have been presented him tbh.

That’s more than likely exactly how it went down. The ashes are metaphorically Paul’s, so really that is the utmost of disrespect to his character, not necessarily to William Moody. But still, it’s not right. Although, maybe it’s not that bad but who knows.

It didn’t help that Punk got chants.

“Paul Bearer” is a character whose death happened at the same time of the actor who played him. WWE didn’t really have to get an okay from William Moody’s sons and I don’t know why they would be upset. If another TV show kills off a character and then mocks that character, should the sons of the actor who played that character feel disrespected?

That is the way I originally looked at it. But the problem is, Pro Wrestling is a mix between a sport and a TV show and people look at it differently. People don’t know if WWE should be taken seriously or not.

The only person who should be insulted is Kane.
